Follow The Interior Department On Instagram For Gorgeous Images Of The U.S.A

Official social media pages of state departments are not known to be particularly inspiring or exciting—this is definitely not the case for the U.S. Interior Department, which is in charge of the country’s federal parks.

To promote “America’s great outdoors”, the department started posting on its Instagram account about a year ago—since then, it has managed to fill its feed with some seriously good-looking shots of natural landscapes in the U.S.A.

Featuring images captured with both the iPhone and DSLR cameras, these photographs are mostly taken by the department’s staff or from public submissions for photo contests—for instance, the “Summer in America’s Great Outdoors” project, which is currently taking place on Flickr.

The Interior Department was also quick to make use of the new video function on Instagram—according to them, the first few video posts have garnered a “pretty positive response”.
