Sergey Dmitrievich Merkurov (b.1881, d. 1952) was a renowned Soviet era 'monumentalist sculptor'. With the frightening ex-Soviet leader Joseph Stalin as one of his avid supporters, Merkurov was understandably awarded the title of, 'People's Artist of USSR'.
Apart from creating propaganda sculptures for the Soviet government, Merkurov also dabbled in creating a rather sensual, 'pornographic' typeset. His unorthodox alphabet book was filled with illustrations of vivid pornographic images that are sure to make some eyebrows go up.
