NSFW: Thought-Provoking Photographs Of Sex Dolls

Photographer Zackary Canepari's interest in the business of sex dolls ('Love Doll' or 'Real Doll' phenomena) took him to Abyss Creations—a factory that created them in San Marcos, California.

While he was there, he was able to gain an inside look into how the sex dolls were assembled and was subsequently able to put together the following collection of stills.

The photographs seemed at first, to merely document what Canepari saw at the factory—however on another level, they also affirm the mass demand for sex dolls and makes a statement about how this particular inanimate object has such "influence and power" over some of us.

Costing some US$6,000, these dolls are pleasure and companionship to some people. Others even use these dolls as a form of therapy—in effect, the use of the sex doll is varied and most definitely controversial.

What do you think about the sex doll industry? Is it something that can be deemed 'necessary'? Or is it just another outlet for people to carry out their sexual fantasies?
