Research Center Nearly Becomes Invisible By Reflecting Surrounding Landscape

The Palaon Research and Experience Center may appear to be almost invisible, as its faceted exterior reflects the environment around it.

Designed by Zurich and Berlin based firm, Holzer Kobler Architekturen, this research center is located in Shoningen, Germany, where 300,000-year-old spears and weapons of humanity’s ancestors were found.

While used for research, this building also houses coal mines, an exhibition space, shops and a restaurant.

As the visitor walks through all of these spaces, he ascends the building and comes to the top where he can view the excavation taking place.
