Robot Helps Anxious Children Cope With Getting Injections

Many of us have felt anxious while getting our first injections, but these worries may be a thing of the past thanks to this robot.

The MEDi (Medicine and Engineering Designing Intelligence) robot, created by Aldebaran Robotics, is designed to give children high-fives and distract them while medical professionals administer treatment that may be traumatizing or painful.

A study conducted by Dr Beran from the University of Calgary showed that children who have interacted with this robot before and while getting their vaccinations recovered more quickly and were more relaxed, whereas the others who did not remained anxious.

Also known as the Soother-Bot, this mechanical helper also aids parents in calming their children during these stressful times.

With robots aiding us in so many ways, there’s no limit to what we can come up with to make our lives easier.
