Other than water and caffeine, coffee also contains several unlikely substances that can actually be quite repulsive if they are present in higher concentration.
For instance, 2-Ethylphenol, which has a “tar-like medicinal odor", happens to be a cockroach pheromones that the creepy bugs use to warn one another of danger.
