Inspired by a lunchtime conversation with some friends, Vimeo user properniceinnit decided to find out how different languages interpreted animal sounds.
The video features speakers of English, Mandarin, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Hindi, Canadian-French, Romanian, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, Bengali, Brazilian-Portuguese, Colombian-Spanish, Swahili and Mongolian.
They were then asked to make animal sounds in their native language.
Almost everyone agreed on what a cow and cat sounds like, but it’s pretty surprising how different the other answers were.
