In anticipation of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Coca-Cola has partnered FIFA to launch an innovative sustainability campaign to increase the culture of recycling and reduce the World Cup’s environmental footprint.
In the project, plastic bottles would be collected and be reused in the linings of 6,773 seats at the new Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro (the venue for the final match).
About 100 collection points have been set up in the city of Rio, for people to dispose their plastic bottles.
