Infographic: 1 In 3 Smartphone Owners Would Rather Give Up Sex Than Phones

Smartphones, tablets and other gadgets have become an integral part of our lives.

More and more people are addicted and can’t live without technology—some even get anxious (‘nomophobia’) when they leave forget or lose their phones.

An infographic by OnlinePsychologyDegree.net looks at smartphone addicts and their habits of bringing their gadgets to bed.

According to ‘Getting in Bed with Gadgets: Your Technology is Keeping you Awake’, bringing your gadgets to bed can be more harmful than helpful for a good rest.

The infographic says that some get awakened by their phones; and a two-hour exposure to light from electronic displays suppresses melatonin (the chemical in your body that promotes sleep) by 22%—making those who use their gadgets before bedtime not get enough sleep during the week.

The lack of sleep could cause car accidents, falling asleep at work, and a higher risk of heart attack.

Should we rethink our gadget-using habits, or rather, addiction?
