Twitter is set to introduce its own photo filters, which would potentially eliminate the need for third-party photo-sharing apps—including the very popular Instagram.
Leaked by Twitter employees who declined to be named, this piece of news has not been validated by Twitter itself—even so, the move seems to make strategic sense.
After Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram earlier this year, it is common knowledge that Twitter has been looking to buy a similar photo service or app—it might have decided to build its own filters instead after appraising the market.
The introduction of Twitter-centric photo filters will certainly make it easier to share aesthetically-enhanced pictures as tweets—but even so, is that enough of an incentive for you to give up Instagram?
