Fashion journal WWD invited several top designers and fashion houses—like Karl Lagerfeld, Vera Wang and Dior—to sketch and imagine gifts fit for the royal baby.
Inspired by the idea, Dior created an entire new collection of babywear for the future king.
The French fashion house described the collection as: “Like fairies leaning over a cradle, Baby Dior was inspired by Mr Dior’s lucky charms to adorn the future newborn’s outfits. Cashmere knitting, coming in a beautiful leather suitcase, was twisted with four-leaf clovers to keep the baby warm. Each piece, embellished with embroideries and lace, was delicately handmade, requiring hours of work.”
As for Karl Lagerfeld, he designed a ‘royal pacifier’ for the baby—calling it a “royal dummy”—a common name for pacifier in England.
