Illustrated U.S Map Shows Iconic Movie Scenes On The States Where They Took Plac

Brooklyn-based design studio The Chopping Block has been keeping track of popular science fiction, horror and fantasy films, television shows and comics that are set in real locations in the U.S.A.

Having accumulated quite a bit of such data, they have decided to produce a silkscreen illustrated map of the United States—titled “The Altered States of America”—where each state will feature images of the iconic pop culture scenes that were set in it.

For instance, New York is represented by a picture of King Kong atop the Empire State Building with a couple of vintage airplanes zooming around it.

The studio has started a Kickstarter campaign to make this awesome map into reality—they have also invited their backers to help them improve the map by suggesting scenes or characters to be featured.

Depending on the amount you pledge, you will receive buttons with illustrations of individual states, regional maps of specific states or the full printed map, which is “loaded with impossible scenes from 60 years of sci-fi and fantasy”.

As of now, the project has already raised almost 3 times that of the original goal—there are 12 days more to go, so you can still get your hands on “The Altered States of America” map over here.
