Thought-Provoking Portraits Of Homeless People Living In Los Angeles

New Zealand-based graphic designer Michael Pharaoh has created a photo series that offers a glimpse at the grim reality of living on the streets in Los Angeles—a city known for its rich and famous.

Titled ‘The Homeless of L.A.’, Pharaoh ventured the city, documenting the many homeless people living on the streets by taking close-up shots of their faces.

Thought-provoking in nature, his images capture not only their pains from living on the streets, but also their spirit and resiliency.

“It was fascinating to me because we don’t have the same plethora of homeless people as L.A.,” he said. “It was interesting to hear all of their stores and how they came to live on the streets. This project was both a sad and humbling one.”
