Boston-based practice Höweler + Yoon Architecture has designed an interactive installation made up of 20 ring-shaped swings that change color when swung.
Called ‘Swing Time’, the swings were made from custom fabricated welded polypropylene and come in three different sizes. The swings radiate a white light when they are still, switching to purple when in motion.
This temporary installation was designed for the community to “engage, exercise, and play as individuals or in groups”. The designers hope to “activate the urban park and create a community laboratory for play in the Innovation District and South Boston neighborhoods”.
Swing Time will be on display at The Lawn on D in Boston, Massachusetts till 31 October 2014.
