Dutch photographer Alex Ten Napel has created a series of poignant black-and-white portraits that revealed the various emotions experienced by Alzheimer’s patients in his photo series, ‘Alzheimer’.
Napel studied the patients’ gestures and facial expressions, which ranged from overjoyed smiles to pensive gazes, before capturing the perfect moment that best encapsulated their feelings.
“Alzheimer’s disease shows us human existence without any decoration… Unfortunately emotions confuse the patients and… us,” said Napel.
