Industrial Designer Marc Newson Will Join Apple’s Design Team

Australian industrial designer Marc Newson will be joining Apple’s design team, where he will be working together with Sir Jonathan Ive, the senior vice president of design for Apple.

According to Vanity Fair, Newson will continue to be based in United Kingdom while making frequent trips to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The famed designer is no stranger to working with his close friend, Ive. The duo have previously worked on designing a special edition Leica camera for U2 singer Bono’s (RED) charity auction.

“Marc is without question one of the most influential designers of this generation…We are particularly excited to formalize our collaboration as we enjoy working together and have found partnership so effective,” said Ive.

It might be too late for Newson to give his signature touches on the iWatch that is rumored to be released during Apple’s media event tomorrow, but one thing is certain—his presence in Apple’s design team could spark off a wave of tech products that will be the envy of many.
