Portraits of Popular Anime Characters Recreated On Rice Paddy Fields

You know that the Japanese are really creative when you realize they can make art out of anything, especially rice paddy fields.

Also known as ‘tanbo art’, various areas are outlined or demarcated so people know which type of rice to put in each boundary.

Sometimes, an entire village will be enlisted to help with one portrait.

There is also no need to use dye as the various types of rice planted serve to create different colors.

These portraits also turn gold-colored, or “koganeiro” in the fall, adding to their beauty.
