The short film Social Network is an aesthetically pleasing look at our addiction to Facebook.
Directed by Beomseok Yang, the film is paced with an upbeat soundtrack and follows a young South Korean boy as he goes about his day.
We observe how his world comes to life as he logs on to the various social media sites. Every person the young boy meets in reality is accompanied by his virtual profile.
The protagonist enjoys interacting with his friends on Facebook, thriving on the likes he gets, that are reflected on his sunglasses, but everyone soon ignores him in “real life” after he accidentally disconnects by dropping his phone.
The film ends with a shot of people looking at their screens, not interacting with each other in real life.
