‘Butterfly Alphabet’: Typography Formed By Butterfly Wing Patterns

Norwegian nature photographer Kjell Bloch Sandved has amassed an impressive collection of butterfly photos over the years. He formed the ‘Butterfly Alphabet’ when he discovered that the wing patterns of his subjects resembled letters of the latin alphabet.

Sandved assembled photographs of wing patterns that resembled all 26 letters in the alphabet, as well as Arabic numerals 0 to 9.

The vibrant hues are unique and stunning, and are testament to the wonders of nature. The photographer takes orders for custom typographic prints on his website.
