Geeks Send LEGO Minifigs Of Themselves Into Outer Space

Self-professed geeks Jon Chippindall and Ian Cunningham have sent LEGO minifig versions of themselves into outer space.



The pair spent approximately US$500 to propel a balloon containing their LEGO doppelgangers, with a HD camera attached to it.



The string attached to Mr Chippindall’s minifig got loose, and it dangled precariously as it floated up into the atmosphere.



Their hot air balloon was called the “Manchester Meteor”, allowing the minifigs to journey up to a height of 90,000-feet, landing 75-miles form the take-off point in Chesterfield after it had burst.



The friends managed to retrieve their toys using their GPS, doing this with “minimal” engineering knowledge.
