Graphic Designer Swaps The Color Schemes Of Famous Competing Brand Logos

To reveal the power of colors in logo design, Brazilian graphic designer Paula Rupolo conducted an experiment where she swaps the color schemes of famous brands with that of their competitors.

Pairing up well-known commercial rivals—including Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Microsoft and Apple, Facebook and Twitter—the designer switches the iconic colors that define each brand logo from one to the other.

The result is a set of intriguing redesigned logos—the McDonald’s logo now has a green background, while the Yahoo logo received a rainbow makeover.

Brilliantly illustrating how important color choices is to logo design and branding, this well-executed series makes us realize that one intuitively associates a brand with the colors in its logo.

According to Rupolo, “colors are the first thing you notice in a logo, what gets fastest to our brains. Then you read a logo’s shape, icons, or typography”.
