Many of us know how it feels like to be on the cusp of graduating from college—there is excitement, anxiety, mixed with some hope and dread. Because of this, Jessica Hagy has come up with a book that will help many young graduates cope with this big life change.
In an interview with Fast Company, Hagy shares ten pieces of advice from her book, How To Be Interesting After You Graduate. This advice comes in the form of hand-drawn charts, making this subject more accessible.
“I was reading a lot of business advice, and a lot of it felt very stilted. I wanted to take an angle that was more personal, less balance sheet,” she said.
The diagrams in her book take after her blog posts on This Is Indexed, and she uses visuals like graphs and venn diagrams to explain advice that seems vague and abstract at a glance. For example, she uses overlapping circles to teach us how to “build our reputation with kindness”.
