Sometimes, even if something isn’t broken, one can still try to fix it. That is precisely what New Zealand-based designer Ash Rourke has done with the egg carton.
While the traditional cardboard egg carton is generally already considered to be quite eco-friendly, No Hatch, a brand offering free range eggs, wanted an even more sustainable packaging for their product.
The solution that Rourke provided is an improved version of the egg carton that uses the absolute minimal amount to materials to construct—while the eggs are packed more closely together, the protective function of the carton has not been compromised.
