Inspired by Apple’s patent filing for a holographic display, animator Mike Ko came up with a cool concept that imagines what it might look like.

Ko, who has created animations for Google, Nike, Toyota and NASCAR, made a short film called Diorama that envisions how users can interact with 3D projected images.

The video features a tiny car traveling along a street as buildings pop up on one side, with the images appearing as 3-dimensional figures floating above the screen.

Apple filed for an “Interactive Three-Dimensional Display System” in October 2012, and though it’s not known if the company will eventually make such a product, Ko’s video is a fun and interesting look at how it might turn out.
