Artist Anderson Augesto, widely known as SAO from São Paulo, has collaborated with his friend Leonardo Delafuente to transform their “tense-filled confusing city” with colourful street art.
Cartoon paintings such as The Super Mario Brothers and others can be seen on storm drains, manhole covers and other street fixtures. Bright colours begin filling every corner of the streets of the Barra Funda neighbourhood, creating a fun, light-hearted atmosphere.
The project, titled 6EMEIA, was initiated with the intention of improving everyday life—it is hoped that the cute drawings around their neighbourhood would change people’s perspective of art and “modify the means within which we all live”.
