Japanese Seaweed Laser-Cut With Intricate Patterns For Creating Gorgeous Sushi

The Japanese are known for creating out-of-this-world food porn, but they may have outdone themselves with “Designer Nori”, which is seaweed that has been laser-cut with wonderfully intricate patterns, for making beautiful sushi rolls.

The brainchild of ad agency I&S DDBO and seaweed shop owner Umino Hiroyuki, these gorgeous seaweed was made in the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami tragedy—each pattern in the series represents a wish for the areas in the country that have been struck by the disaster. For instance, turtle shell stands for longevity while cherry blossom means beauty.

Head over to Umino’s Facebook page to find out how you can get your hands on some Designer Nori—would you bear to eat sushi that look this lovely?
