Twitter users can finally avoid the spammy updates from over-tweeters with the addition of the new mute feature, which is available on Twitter's website, iPhone and Android apps.
The mute button acts as a filter, allowing muted users on your list to "still be able to fave, reply to, and retweet your tweets; you just won’t see any of that activity in your timeline" said Twitter's product manager Paul Rosania.
This would also help streamline the content that the user is receiving, thereby providing a better Twitter experience.
The best part of this function is that "the muted user will not know that you’ve muted them", thus avoiding possible awkward confrontations.
Slated to to be implemented in the upcoming weeks, users can find out more about this new feature on the Twitter support page.
