Creative director of design studio Open, Scott Stowell, shared in an eight-minute-long video on why it is important for creative professionals to pay attention.

He said, “This talk is kind of structured around a bunch of moments where these opportunities will present themselves. And I think that everyday has these unique moments where something will happen that you didn’t expect, and if you are paying attention, you can take advantage of that and turn it into something good or fun, or at least stupid that you can tell a story about later.”

He also added that he lives by the motto that “no one has any idea what they are doing” and everybody is just figuring out. Hence, one should be bold enough to take risks when engaging in projects.

His talk is the first in a series of lectures focusing on top creative talents. Titled ‘Lunch Talks’, it is a collaboration between Fast Co.Design and social impact design studio Hyperakt.
