Japanese design studio Nendo has created a collection of glass bottles for the Maison&Objet trade fair in Paris this year.
The designers chose to work around the word “rain”, as there are several ways of describing it in the Japanese language, depending on the condition and time of the rain—“it was a way to reflect the fine nuances and sensibilities of Japanese as a language”.
Each clear bottle showcases items and rain drops suspended in its center—for instance, a droplet on the end of a branch represents the “kismet” type of rain, and the thick vertical strands of rain symbolize a torrential downpour referred to as “niwaka-ame”.
