After she separated from her partner, UK-based photographer Laura Stevens channeled her grief into a series of staged portraits that capture the devastation and loss she felt.
Titled ‘Another November’, they portray the various stages of the end of a relationship, from sadness to recovery.
Stevens approached friends and strangers to act out the emotions she experienced, shooting them in isolation and surrounded by empty spaces in their homes. Though each image has a distinctive story, they come together to form a narrative that is at once personal and relatable.
“By constructing images of the evolving chapters, I was allowed a vantage point from which to view the changes occurring in me, from feelings of pain, confusion and loneliness towards the reconstruction of my identity as an individual.”
