Chinese Fast Food Chain Panda Express Gets A New Logo

Before / After

When you think of Chinese fast food in the USA, chances are “Panda Express” would come to mind.

After being established in 1973, this quick service restaurant chain has gradually expanded to the 1,700 locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico under its management today—to reflect this success and to mark the launch of a new stand-alone concept store, the company recently unveiled an updated logo and visual identity.

According to Studio MPLS, which designed the new branding materials, one of the key challenges while working on the project is to evolve the 15 years old logo to bring across a modern sentiment, “while maintaining its hard-earned equity”.

To do so, the studio introduced a friendlier, slightly rounder typeface and enhanced the panda illustration by “refining proportions and smoothing forms”.
