French fashion label Céline has named legendary writer Joan Didion as the face of its new Spring/Summer 2015 campaign.
In an editorial shot by German fashion photographer Juergen Teller, the 80-year-old looks coolly nonchalant in an all-black outfit, donning an over-sized gold pendant and pair of black sunglasses from the brand.
Known for her novels Slouching Towards Bethlehem and The Year of Magical Thinking, the fashion brand’s choice of Didion as cool girl is no mere coincidence. The celebrated author was a writer for fashion bible Vogue back in the early ’60s, and her appointment is befitting of the brand’s edgy and cool vibe.
Literature lovers and fashionistas alike will get to find out more about Didion in a new documentary about her life titled We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live, directed by her nephew Griffin Dunne.
