Breakfast at Tiffany's (Paramount/The Kobal Collection/Howell Conant)
Author and film historian Karina Longworth has released a new book that would give us a rare glimpse into the little-seen, behind-the-scenes world of the Classic Hollywood era—featuring “hundreds of never-before-published photos from the sets of some of the greatest films of the twentieth century”, Hollywood Frame by Frame: The Unseen Silver Screen in Contact Sheets, 1951-1997 is a must-read for any film buff.
From the 1950s, movie studios started shooting more candid and casual pictures of their stars to be sold to outlets—for every selected photo that was released for publishing, countless others unapproved ones were rejected and never expected to be seen again.
Hollywood Frame by Frame brings these previously lost moments of “spontaneity or misstep” to the public view—one would be able to view outtakes and selected stills of iconic stars like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean from legendary films that include Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Bus Stop and Giant.
The book is now available for purchase here—view more sample images from it here and here.
