Shoppers can now bring home a furry friend when they shop for furniture at IKEA Singapore.

Life-size cardboard standees can be seen in the various showrooms—some of them are seated on the beds and chairs, while others fit nicely into the various rooms.

Shoppers who are interested in adopting can easily scan the QR codes on the dog's collar—every dog has its own short introduction and video on the "Home for Hope" website.

The initiative helps shelters "raise awareness of the plight of animals living in shelters and the importance of adoption" by tapping onto IKEA's publicity resources.

With IKEA spearheading the first of such campaigns, the shelters have seen more leading furniture brands coming in as partners for this cause.
