An Elegant Bicycle That Is ‘Unstealable’

Thanks to three engineering students from Chile, we can soon park and lock our bicycles safely in public areas.



In ‘The Yerka Project’, the trio designed a bicycle that lets you “wrap” it around a pole or a tree. To use, simply slide down a tube on the bicycle frame to open it up before looping the saddle across to lock it in place.



The whole locking procedure takes about 20 seconds, which is comparable to the time taken when a conventional lock is used.



For now, the bicycle is only available as a prototype—till then, we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that it won’t be too long before it hits the market.
