‘Postcards for Ants’: Artist Creates Miniature Paintings Daily For 365 Days

1 September, day 244

‘365 Postcards for Ants’ is an ongoing project by Cape Town-based artist Lorraine Loots, in which she challenged herself to create a miniature painting every day for a year.

Started in 2013, Loots is now in the second phase of the project—to create Cape Town-themed paintings for a whole year as a tribute to the city’s appointment as World Design Capital 2014.

On her website, Loots showcases her daily artworks along with a caption that describes the image and explains the inspiration behind it.

To emphasize the tininess of her paintings, Loots places various objects next to it as a comparison.

Check out the intricate artworks below or follow the project here for more.
