The New York Mets Logo Changed Mysteriously On Social Media

If you are a fan of the New York Mets, you may have noticed something odd about the logo shown on its Facebook and Twitter accounts a few days ago.

The familiar 53-year-old logo underwent a subtle and mysterious alteration—the silhouette of the flat-topped United Nations headquarters on the far right of the logo has been replaced with the slant-roofed outline of the Citigroup Center.

According to The New York Times, this change effectively aligns “the Mets’ insignia with Citigroup, which is paying $20 million a year to put its name on Citi Field, at the expense of the U.N”.

However, the altered logo soon disappeared, and a Mets spokesperson states that its “current and primary logo has not changed at all”.
