A Statement-Making Wooden Table With A Beautiful Tangled Knot In Its Center

This impressive sculpture is a playful take on the standard dining table.

Designed by artist Michael Beitz, the 18-foot-long sculpture is made entirely out of wood, including the tangles and twists at its center. Both ends are flat and viewers are invited to take a seat at the table and admire the beautiful tangled center which makes the curved wood look almost pliable.

The piece is titled “Not Now”, and its name suggests that it could be a metaphor for a messy conversation or to convey that “I just don’t feel like talking”. Two people sitting at both ends of the table are unable to look through Beitz's created obstruction.
