Philippe Starck Updates The Sofa For Tech-Savvy Couch Potatoes

French designer Philippe Starck—in partnership with Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina—has given the sofa a ‘hi-tech’ update, for the tech-savvy generation.

Called ‘MyWorld’, the functional modular couch lets users comfortably use their gadgets while lounging.

Equipped with privacy dividers, a side table with hidden power outlets and a Powermat inside (for charging devices discreetly)—MyWorld is an ‘updated’ sofa that adapts to the habits of the ever-changing world, and is quite ideal for those who work from home.

The sofa is also sold in sections, so users can buy only the pieces that suit their needs and room sizes—such as side tables and poufs (footrests).

“We live in a schizophrenic society. Let’s assume that,” Philippe Starck wrote. “MyWorld is a cocoon, a nest, a world where we can be egocentric and comfortably commune with our own shadow or collect some snatches of news from the world, that is said to be real.”

MyWorld is available in various colors and combinations, such as armchair, two-seater, three-seater versions.
