World’s First House Made Of Mushrooms

New York-based company Evocative is planning to make a house out of mushrooms.

Though not entirely made of fungi—it will have a wooden frame to supports its structure—the ‘Mushroom Tiny House’ will have walls with mushroom ‘roots’ (mycelium) as insulation, and mushroom-made ceiling tiles.

The aim of the Mushroom House was to prove that there’s an eco-friendly alternative to traditional houses.

Co-founder of Evocative, Eben Bayer, told Inhabitat that the Mushroom House would be affordable, fire resistant, “far less costly to our health, environment and [pockets]”, and eco-friendly and energy-efficient in the construction.

The world’s first mushroom house is expected to be completed in a few weeks.
