Based in Vancouver, artist Wendy Tsao first transformed her four-year-old son’s sketches of a character he kept drawing into a plush toy.
Six years later, Tsao now makes the creations of other children come to life in the form of these stuffed toys. Although she regarded it as a business at first, it is now a craft for her to make good art.
Inspired by how children express themselves, Tsao works with hand-drawn and colored drawings, clarifying with the customer if some details are not clear. She makes it and takes photographs of the toy before sending it.
While some are weird, others are colorful, showing how imaginative children truly are.
