It is not uncommon to see contemporary musicians wearing t-shirts that sport the logos of rock icons who came before them and have inspired their work.
In “Reversed Music Icons Fandom Project”, Brazilian designer Butcher Billy turned the chronology of rock idolism back to front and imagined the musical heroes wearing the logos of the bands influenced by their own legacy.
This disorientating project, which depicts John Lennon in an Arctic Monkey T-shirt and David Bowie in a Nirvana sweatshirt, also asks the intriguing question of whether the original influencers would approve of the new acts that their own music has helped to bring into being.
