Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue Has A Plus-Size Model For The First Time





For the first time in Sports Illustrated’s history, a plus-size model will be featured in its swimsuit issue—but not in its editorial content.



Ashley Graham, a size 16 model, will appear in an ad for plus-size online retailer Swimsuits For All’s ‘#CurvesinBikinis’ campaign.



This isn’t the first time Swimsuits For All has embraced curvy women; it made the headlines last year for recreating Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit cover.



“I know my curves are sexy, and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too. There is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt,” Graham said in a statement. She added that she was “thrilled” to be part of the campaign.



The ad was created by New York-based agency KraftWorks and shot by photographer Russell James.
