
Since March 30th 1995, Washington-born artist, Bryan Lewis Saunders has been drawing self-portraits every day—a practice he intends keep up for the rest of his life.
After experiencing a “drastic change” in his environment, he started looking for other ways to affect his perception of himself.
He devised a rather dangerous experiment where he takes a different drug each day before drawing self-portraits, while under the influence.
According to a statement taken from his website, he said “Within weeks I became lethargic and suffered mild brain damage.”
“I am still conducting this experiment but over greater lapses of time,” Saunders adds, “I only take drugs that are given to me.”
