Disney princesses may have gotten a dose of reality, but some other Disney characters are getting a supermodel makeover and slimming down for Barneys NY’s 2012 Holiday Campaign.
Disney and Barneys have teamed up to create a 3-D short film featuring iconic characters—such as Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Cruella de Vil and Daisy Duck—getting high-fashion makeovers for the upcoming festive season.
The Disney characters get redrawn as 5’ 11” models, donning designer labels such as Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and Rik Owens.
The campaign, entitled ‘Electric Holiday’, pays tribute to Disney’s famous electric parades and will debut on 14 November with a 3-D light show.
This year, Disney is also partnering up with Harrods to create a series of Disney Princess-themed Christmas windows.
Do Disney characters really look better as skinny supermodels—or is this sending a wrong message out to kids?
