It is official—the ‘Curiosity Rover’ has landed on Mars.
Touchdown was confirmed at 1.32am, Eastern time by engineer, Allen Chen.
According to an article in the The New York Times , the Curiosity is a larger and more capable rover compared to earlier generations and will open ‘a new era of exploration’ and hopefully find signs that early Mars could have sustained life.
Over the week, Curiosity will deploy its main antenna, raise a mast containing cameras and take its first panoramic shot of Mars.
NASA is currently showing a live feed of the Curiosity landing, which can be found here.
