To Make Commuting More Interesting, Designer Remakes Reality

For four years, Netherlands-based Daniel Disselkoen took the same tram everyday.



As his daily commute got as predictable as it got mundane, he thought: “Why would you then look out the window with curiosity when there is no reason to expect anything new?”



With this, he decided to make things more interesting, and change the daily journey for himself and his fellow passengers.



Rather than moving the tramway or taking another tram and route, he opted for a different approach by adding something—so that “what already exists would look very different now”, he wrote.



Disselkoen added a sticker he called ‘Man-eater’ on the window of the tram as a game, and instructions on the seat in front.



In the game that ‘remakes reality’, passengers seated right next to the sticker had to close one eye and move their heads up and down while looking at the Man-eater, to move the sticker and ‘eat heads’ of pedestrians.
