In support of electric vehicles entering the market, Urban Green Energy in collaboration with GE Energy have installed the world’s first wind-powered electric-vehicle charging station.
The ‘Sanya Skypump’, located in Barcelona, uses wind-turbine technology to captures up to 4kW of wind energy—to ensure its users are using the cleanest possible, zero-emissions, renewable energy.
When the charging station is not in use, it also continues to operate and feed energy back into the grid—providing the local electric grid with renewable energy.
The companies plan to install Sanya Skypumps throughout shopping centers and universities in the US later in the year.
