American designer Phillip Lim has tapped into his inner nerd, and teamed up with comic book writer John Ostrander and Star Wars illustrator Jan Duursema, to create a comic book.
The black-and-white comic book, entitled ‘Kill the Night’, draws inspiration from Sin City, V for Vendetta, 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Fall 2012 collection, and the neo-noir heroines that embody Lim’s designs.
Like his collection, the comic carries various themes of duality—day and night, black and white, love and betrayal—making things appear not as they seem.
The superheroes in Lim’s world aren’t the typical spandex-wearing, cape-draping characters—rather, they have a sense of fashion and don designer ensembles while fighting crime.
Would Lim’s comic books be ‘cool’ enough to turn comic nerds into fashion junkie—or vice versa?
Kill the Night would be available from 6 September 2012 for Fashion’s Night Out.
