100-Foot Tree Transformed Into A Concession Stand

Believing in the notion: “you need to sacrifice something in order to make something new”, Swedish architecture firm Visiondivision has created a concession stand cum tree house using an entire 100-foot tree.

Commissioned by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the firm’s creation was made from a single yellow poplar tree—the state tree of Indiana.

Using pieces of wood from the tree, the firm constructed different components of the concession stand—such as its structural support, tables and chairs for guests, and swings for kids.

The firm even sold ‘yellow poplar syrup’—an extract from the tree’s bark—allowing customers to actually ‘eat’ part of the building.
